Before checking in on race day, all runners are highly encouraged to meet a fundraising minimum of $51 commemorating Sam Mills (#51), who lost his battle with cancer.
The Keep Pounding Campaign, founded in 2003 by the Carolina Panthers and Carolinas HealthCare Foundation, encourages cancer survivors and their loved ones to always “Keep Pounding” in the fight against cancer.
Fundraising suggestions and sample letters are available upon registration to assist runners in meeting this requirement. We encourage all runners to not only meet the minimum, but exceed it as 100% of the money raised at the event benefits pediatric and adult cancer programs at Levine Children's Hospital and Levine Cancer Institute.
