Thank you for supporting Cycle to the Sea, which benefits the Adaptive Sports and Adventures Program (ASAP) at Carolinas HealthCare System's Carolinas Rehabilitation. ASAP offers outdoor recreation and sports activities to youth and adults with physical disabilities.

Cycle to the Sea (CTTS) will be supported again by our motorcyclists and volunteers that we rely heavily on each year to ensure the safety of our riders.  CTTS-North Myrtle Beach will cover 180 miles from Charlotte, NC, to North Myrtle Beach, SC from April 26-28, 2018.

Rider (Cyclist / Hand-Cyclist) Registration

Registration fee per cyclist is $75 and will be handled offline through ASAP ( / 704-355-1062)

Your Participant Center

When signing up to fundraise online (using the Register button on the homepage) you will be prompted to create a user name and password, which will link to your unique event fundraising page. Your fundraising page will allow you to create a profile, upload photos, set your personal fundraising goal, and send emails to family, friends, and colleagues asking or thanking them for their support.

During registration, you will be prompted to identify yourself as either a new or "returning user" (Note for returning users: If you do not remember your username/password combination, please contact Kat Glass at 704-355-0958 /

We suggest a minimum fundraising goal of $1,250 per Individual Fundraiser and $1,250 per Team Member (for Team Fundraising). These are achievable fundraising goals (here are a few easy fundraising tips!)

NOTE: We have established 3 fundraising tiers for participating CTTS riders offering great cycling gear to thank you for all of your efforts. Please speak with an ASAP staff member during your ride registration process (offline) for more details.

Find out if your employer will match your gift. Matching gifts are an easy way to double the support for ASAP.  Remember to ask your donors if their employer has a matching gift program.  The donor will need to ask for the forms needed to match their contribution. Most companies will match but the donor will need to initiate the process with their employer or the Human Resources Department.

Sponsorship: We are excited to offer sponsorship opportunities at individual and corporate levels.  Sponsors can significantly increase the funds raised for CTTS.  Corporations will receive excellent recognition with a variety of benefits depending on giving level. We need your help to identify companies that would consider the benefits of being a CTTS sponsor. Contact ASAP for details: or 704-355-1062.

For participants riding in Cycle to the Sea-North Myrtle Beach:

What to expect on the three day ride (CTTS-North Myrtle Beach)

This ride is out of the ordinary and we must be flexible to receive the curveballs it throws, whether it is unexpected weather or a flat tire.  SAFETY IS ALWAYS THE #1 PRIORITY.

Along the route, cyclists stay together and ride as a pack.  Cyclists follow a lead vehicle, and the lead vehicles are in constant communication with the motorcycle guides who are our “safety net.”

Typical Day:

8am – Group leaves the hotel

Noon – Lunch

~4pm – Group arrives at next hotel

There are scheduled breaks along the route. Riders should be prepared to cycle 10-15 miles before a rest break, at a pace of 12 miles an hour.

Training Opportunities

Weather permitting, group training rides are provided weekly at Huntersville Business Park.  You are encouraged to take advantage of as many group training rides as you can. ASAP will be coordinating group rides in other areas closer to the event if necessary.  New support riders are strongly encouraged to participate in the training rides as being a support rider entails strenuous pushing as well as the ability to cycle on your own.

As always, due to the number of riders anticipated for this year and the limited accommodations, we will need to limit family interested in traveling with us and encourage them to meet us at the Prince Resort in North Myrtle Beach for the arrival celebration on Saturday afternoon.
