Established in November 2004, the Dreamcatcher Society is an energetic group interested in the health and well-being of children in Charlotte and the surrounding region.  Members join the group, pledging $1,000 a year for five years to underwrite programs and resources at Levine Children’s Hospital (LCH).

The Dreamcatcher Society has made possible several projects at Carolinas HealthCare System's Levine Children's Hospital that enhance the quality of care patients receive.  From transportation systems that make getting around fun, an endowment to ensure the child life program has purpituity, to a brand new echocardiology lab that raises the bar for pediatric heart programs in our region.

Since inception, the Dreamcatcher Society (now over 230 members strong) has funded:

  • Unique, fun patient transportation systems that mimic NASCAR vehicles
  • A robotic medicine dispenser modeled after a train car
  • An endowment for the Child Life program
  • A state-of-the-art pediatric echocardiology lab
  • And most recently, CinemaVision, a virtual entertainment system designed to improve patient experience during MRI scans

The Dreamcatcher Society is currently endowing the Levine Children’s Hospital’s Child Life Program – one of the largest programs of its kind in the country. The talented Child Life team cares for the emotional needs of children and their families, educates them about the hospital experience and helps restore a sense of normalcy to their lives. There is never a bill for the Child Life services, but the benefits they provide are priceless.
